Product Description

AC-119K Stinger Airplane Model. The AC-119K Stinger is a version of the C-119 features two 20 mm cannon, improved avionics and two underwing-mounted J-85-GE-17 turbojet engines. On November 3, 1969, the first AC-119K was delivered to the 18th SOSq at Nha Trang Air Base. The AC-119K was under combat evaluation for almost a month, when it received a new nickname such as Gun Shy, Poor Boy and Charlie Brown. On December 1, 1969, it became the Stinger. The heavy demand for AC-119K support of ground operations and interdiction of the enemy's dry season supply effort contributed to some early losses. The AC-119K was vulnerable to anti-aircraft fire. The AC-119K Stinger has a combat speed of 180 knots. It has a crew of ten for a pilot, copilot, navigator, night observation sight (NOS) operator, radar/FLIR operator, flight engineer, illumintator operator and three gunners. It incorporates two Wright R-3350s and two General Electric J85-GE-17 turbojets. There were a total number of 26 AC-119Ks built. Dimensions: 14.75"L x 17"W x 6"H
